IPL 2023 Highlights: MI vs CSK | CSK defeats MI by 7 wickets

CSK defeats MI

Mumbai Indians on Saturday faced Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede Stadium for the 12th match of the Tata Indian Premier League 2023. After winning the toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni chose to bowl first.

Mumbai started well as both the openers got a good start, but soon after, Rohit Sharma fell to a screamer by Tushar Deshpande. In the middle overs, Santner and Jadeja came into the attack, and they worked together brilliantly to grab 5 wickets between them, crippling MI. From 64-1, MI slumped to 76-5, and MS soon called on Pretorius, who bowled fast off-cutters to further prevent any pace.

Before being dropped by Gaikwad, Tim David struggled to find any sort of rhythm. He then smashed Deshpande for 16 off his next three balls to appear dangerous, but he was out on the final ball of that over, and some key boundaries by Hrithik Shokeen at the end helped MI surpass 150. A few boundaries in the last over helped MI reach 157.

For the Chennai Super Kings, Devon Conway got out cheaply. But Ajinkya Rahane came out of the syllabus for the Mumbai Indians. Rahane played pure cricketing shots and scored the fastest fifty in the IPL 2023. He got out to Piyush Chawla after scoring an outstanding 61 off 27 balls. After that, Shivam Dube smashed a few boundaries before slicing one back to his stumps. Ruturaj played through the end and remained not out, scoring 40 off 36 balls.

With this win, Chennai has now moved up to fourth place in the Tata IPL Points Table 2023 with 2 wins in 3 games.
