2008 IPL Winner: Rajasthan Royals

The 2008 IPL was the first season of the Indian Premier League. A lot of big cricketers were involved in several teams. Rajasthan Royals lifted the IPL Trophy and became the 2008 IPL winners. Under the leadership of legendary Shane Warne, a young team mostly made of uncapped Indian players was absolutely brilliant and showed great discipline to become the first IPL winners. The final match was played between Chennai Super Kings & Rajasthan Royals at DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai. The Royals were chasing CSK’s target of 163/5 in 20 overs and won the match by 3 wickets. Yusuf Pathan was named the Man of the Match. He took 3 wickets and scored 56 runs in 39 balls, helping his team become the 2008 IPL winners and register their name in the IPL winners list.

IPL Winners 2009: Deccan Chargers

The second edition of the Indian Premier League was held in South Africa because it coincided with elections in India. This year Deccan Chargers, led by the legendary Adam Gilchrist, became winners and placed their name on the IPL Winners list. This was a huge surprise for everyone as Deccan Chargers finished last in IPL 2008.
Deccan Chargers defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final by 6 runs. DC scored 143/6 in 20 overs, while RCB could only manage to score 139/9. Herschelle Gibbs was the top scorer with 53* in 48 balls.
Matthew Hayden of Chennai Super Kings scored the most runs in the tournament, while R.P. Singh of DC took the most wickets. Adam Gilchrist was named the player of the series.

CSK, with the help of Murali Vijay’s 95 and Mike Hussey’s 63, scored 205-5 in 20 overs. RCB’s batting failed miserably, and they could only manage to score 147-8 in 20 overs.

2012 IPL Winners: Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR became the fourth team to win the IPL title when they won the fifth edition of the tournament. KKR became the fourth team to register its name in the IPL Winners List. Gautam Gambhir-led squad clinched a nail-biting encounter against Chennai Super Kings in the final to lay their hands on the trophy for the first time. Batting first, Chennai Super Kings scored 190/3 in 20 overs. KKR, in response, won the match with 2 balls to spare thanks to Manvinder Bisla’s 89 runs of 48 balls. He was later named the Man of the Match.

2013 IPL Winner: Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians became the IPL winners for the first time in 2013. Rohit Sharma brought home the first cup for the Mumbai Indians in 2013, defeating Chennai Super Kings in the final by 23 runs. Mumbai scored 148/9 with the help of Kieron Pollard’s 60* (32). Chennai fell short by 23 runs despite MSD’s 63* off 45 balls.

2014 IPL Winner: Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL title again and became the 2014 IPL Winner. They became only the second team to do so. Led by Gautam Gambhir, the Knight Riders relied on their strong bowling attack, including the likes of Sunil Narine and Morne Morkel, to secure the title.
Kolkata faced Kings XI Punjab in the final, where they won the toss and elected to bowl first. 2015 IPL Winners: Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians became the IPL winners for the second time in 2015. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai Indians displayed consistent performances throughout the tournament.
