Unravelling the King of IPL

king of IPL

IPL, also known as Indian Premier League, is a T20 tournament that was first played in the year 2008, where Rajasthan Royals emerged as the winners of the Inaugural season of the league. Since then, there have been many great matches, and some of the players have gradually earned the reputation of being the King of IPL.

But who is the ultimate king of the IPL history?

Well, in this blog, we are going to discuss the same topic but in a different way because it would be easy for you guys to guess and debate on this topic.

Virat Kohli is known as the King of Cricket, and considering his great performances in all these years, it is somewhat true that Virat is indeed the king of IPL.

However, we will now shed light on some of the best players in their respective departments because a bowler, a fielder, an all-rounder, or even the captain deserves this limelight if they have been the best in the business.

So, let’s get on with it.

King of IPL (Batting)– Virat Kohli

King of IPL Batting: Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli, the former Indian and RCB skipper, is unarguably the King of IPL. Under his leadership, both India and RCB won great victories against strong opponents. Not only with Bat, but his aggression on the field helped to boost the morale of other blokes.

He has played as many as 237 games in IPL and has scored 7,263 runs with an average of 37.25. In his overall career, Virat has also scored 7 centuries and 50 half-centuries. These numbers are enough to answer all the questions about his dominance and match-winning capabilities in IPL.

King of IPL (Bowling) – Yuzvendra Chahal

King of IPL Bowling: Yuzvendra Chahal

Bowling in T20 cricket is often considered a risky task, and it gets tougher when you’re bowling in the Indian Premier League. Yuzvendra Chahal has been one of the findings of IPL, and with constant match-winning spells, Yuzi became the king of IPL bowling.

With an exceptional economy of 7.67, Chahal has taken 187 wickets in 145 matches. Being a leg spinner is a tough task, and it gets tougher when one is bowling against Warner, Pollard, Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, and many other legends of the game.

So, the next time somebody asks you about who is the King of IPL history in bowling, you know our meme material, Chatur Chalaak Chahal, is the one.

King of IPL (Sixes) – Chris Gayle

King of IPL Sixes: Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle is one of the most destructive batsmen who played the game of cricket across the globe in several T20 leagues.

Also known as the “Universe Boss”, Gayle has played some monstrous innings throughout his journey in the IPL. If your question is, “Who is the IPL King for hitting sixes?” then there is only Chris Gayle who can justify this title.

357 is the number of times when the ball has crossed the boundary ropes after hitting the bat of Chris Gayle. The second on the list is our Hitman Sharma.

Rohit has smashed 255 sixes so far, and it looks like it is a serious task for him and other contenders to break the record of the great Chris Gayle.

King of IPL (Catches) – Suresh Raina

King of IPL Catches: Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina is a former Indian left-handed middle-order batsman who represented Chennai Super Kings and led Gujarat Lions for two seasons.

After Jonty Rhodes and Mohammad Kaif, Raina was considered one of the biggest names in World Cricket when it came down to fielding. He played numerous match-winning innings and contributed with the ball too. But one thing that stood out and made a difference for the team was his fielding efforts.

He played 205 matches in the Indian Premier League and took 109 catches, displaying his exceptional fielding skills. He is followed by Virat Kohli, who has so far taken 106 catches, and we hope that he will soon break the record of his ex-teammate.

King of IPL (All-Rounders) – Ravindra Jadeja

King of IPL All Rounder: Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja, the man who won the U-19 World Cup under Virat’s captaincy, has been one of the most valuable assets for CSK and a few other teams as well.

Jaddu, also known as Sir Jadeja, has rescued his team on multiple occasions, and the latest testament to this was the final of the IPL 2023 edition when he smashed a boundary to seal the game for CSK.

Jadeja is one of the most exceptional fielders in World cricket at the moment, but his brilliance in the field sometimes overshadows his all-round performances. He has so far played 226 games and has scored 2692 runs with an average of 26.39. Apart from this, he has also taken 152 wickets with an average of 29.57.

King of IPL (Captaincy) – Mahendra Singh Dhoni

King of IPL Captaincy: MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni is the former Indian cricket team skipper who won every ICC trophy and took Indian cricket to new and better heights. He is also the captain of Chennai Super Kings, and under his leadership, the team has won 5 titles. He has captained his side 226 times in the Indian Premier League, and with a 59.47% win ratio, CSK has won 133 and lost 91 games.

So, when it comes to the King of IPL, all these players are worthy and deserving individuals to be recognised as the King of their respective fields. Stay tuned for more exciting blogs. See Ya!
