Virat Kohli has the most runs in IPL History; also called as Run Machine Kohli.

Rated as the best batsman in the world across all formats currently, the former Indian and RCB skipper Virat Kohli, also called Run Machine Kohli, has scored the most runs in IPL History. He has amassed a total of 7263 runs in 237 matches.

Virat Kohli is also the only player to be a part of the same franchise since the inaugural season of IPL. Kohli also has 7 IPL centuries to his name, four of which came in a single season of IPL, making him the only player to do so. He also holds the record for most runs in a single season of IPL when he racked up 973 runs in IPL 2016.

In 2021, Virat Kohli left his fans heartbroken when he decided to quit the RCB captaincy. But he also mentioned that he will continue to play for RCB.

After a disappointing season in 2022, Virat Kohli had a phenomenal season in 2023. He scored 639 runs in 14 matches with two centuries and sixes fifties.

#2 Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan: Delhi Capitals

The “Gabbar” of the Indian Team holds the second position in the list of the most runs in IPL. He has been a run machine in IPL for almost over a decade. In 217 matches, he has amassed a total of 6617 runs.

Punjab Kings picked up Shikhar Dhawan in the IPL mega auction after not being retained by Delhi Capitals in 2022.

Dhawan became the first batsman to score two back-to-back centuries in IPL. He notched these tons against Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab in 2020.

Shikhar has been a part of Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Mumbai Indians, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Punjab Kings in his IPL career.

#4 David Warner

David Warner

David Warner is the third player with the most runs in IPL history. The Australian opener has scored 6397 runs in 176 matches. Warner also has the best batting average among all batsmen in IPL (41.53), and in 2016 he took SRH to their maiden title victory. He also holds the record for the most fifties (61) in the Indian Premier League.

David Warner has been a part of Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), and Sunrisers Hyderabad in his IPL career. In 2022, David Warner was not retained by the Sunrisers Hyderabad and was picked by Delhi Capitals in the mega auction.

#3 Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma: Mumbai Indians

Rohit Sharma has been a valuable asset for team India and Mumbai Indians for years. He has the fourth-highest runs in IPL. The Mumbai Indians skipper has gathered 6211 runs in 243 matches in IPL.

Apart from his brilliant batting performances, Rohit Sharma also has an IPL hat-trick to his name. In IPL 2009, Sharma took a hat-trick against his current team Mumbai Indians, while playing for Deccan Chargers.

Under Rohit’s captaincy, Mumbai Indians have won the trophy five times, most by any team. Rohit Sharma has also become the second player to play 200 matches in IPL History.

He played for Deccan Chargers in the early season of IPL until he was picked up by Mumbai Indians in 2011.

#5 Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina has the fifth most runs in IPL history

Popularly known as “Mr IPL”, Suresh Raina has the fifth most runs in IPL. He has a total of 5528 runs in 205 matches. Raina was the highest run-getter in IPL for the first 11 seasons until Virat Kohli took him over in 2019. He was the first cricketer to reach 5000 runs in IPL and the first Indian to smash 100 sixes in IPL. Raina is also the only player to have scored 400 runs in seven consecutive seasons of IPL (2008-2014).

Raina has been a part of only two teams in IPL; Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Lions.

Suresh Raina pulled out of the 2020 IPL due to personal reasons. He will be looking to get back in action in the next season of the Indian Premier League.

In 2022, Suresh Raina was not retained by CSK and was unsold in the mega auction that left Raina fans heartbroken.
