The Indian Premier League 2022, better known as Tata IPL 2022, took place from 26 March to 29 May 2022. This was the 15th IPL season after being inaugurated in 2008. A total of 10 teams participated in the trophy and 20 Crore Prize Money. Runners Up were awarded 13 Crores. Let’s take a look at the Tata IPL 2022 Points Table.

The format was tweaked due to the addition of two new teams. Teams were divided into two groups, and each team from one group was to play twice with teams from the other group and once with teams from the same group. Group A consisted of Mumbai Indians, KKR, RR, DC and LSG, while Chennai Super Kings leads Group B with SRH, RCB, PBKS and GT.

Tata IPL Points Table 2022: A Look at the Journey

Gujarat Titans topped the IPL Leaderboard 2022 with 20 points and a Net Run Rate of 0.316. The Hardik Pandya-led side won a total of 10 games and lost only four matches. This was Gujarat Titan’s first IPL season after being introduced along with Lucknow Super Giants. This was also the second season where ten teams participated after IPL 2011.

Gujarat Titans became the champions after defeating Rajasthan Royals in the final. They defeated RR by seven wickets. Rajasthan was restricted to 130-9 in 20 overs by Gujarat, with Buttler being the highest run scorer with 39 off 35 balls. Gujarat chased the total in 18.1 overs due to some good knocks by Shubhman Gill, Hardik Pandya, and David Miller. Hardik Pandya was named the Man of the Match for his 3 wickets, and 34 runs off 30 balls.

Rajasthan Royals finished second in the points table with 18 points. Sanju Samson led them to win nine matches out of 14 with a Net Run Rate of 0.298. Jos Butler was the top performer for the team with the bat, followed by Captain Sanju Samson.

Lucknow Super Giants finished third in the Tata IPL 2022 Points Table. KL Rahul captained the side. LSG secured 18 points but was placed in the third position due to their inferior Net Run Rate to Rajasthan Royals. KL Rahul was the top performer for the team.

Lucknow Super Giants lost to RCB in the Eliminator courtesy of Rajat Patidar’s 112* off 54 balls. Bangalore posted a massive total of 207-4 in 20 overs. In response, Lucknow fell short of just 14 runs. Patidar was named Man of the Match.

Royal Challengers Bangalore finished fourth on the Tata IPL 2022 points table. They scored 16 points in 14 matches with a net run rate of -0.253. Faf du Plessis led Bangalore were defeated in Qualifier 2 by Rajasthan Royals. Banglore scored 157-8 in 20 overs, and Rajasthan chased it pretty quickly as Buttler smashed his fourth ton of the season.

Delhi Capitals, led by Rishabh Pant, secured 14 points and were placed fifth on the IPL Points Table 2022.

Punjab Kings were placed sixth on the points table with 14 points to their name.

Kolkata Knight Riders secured seventh place with 12 points.

Sunrisers Hyderabad were placed eighth on the IPL Points Table 2022 with 8 points. Sunrisers lost their first two matches but went on to win the next 5 matches and place them fairly well on the points table. After that, they lost matches in a row and were almost out of the tournament.

Chennai Super Kings were second last on the IPL 2022 Leaderboard. They were able to secure only 8 points. They had a terrible start to the season with a defeat from the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2022 opener. They went on to lose their next 3 matches as well. Their first victory of the season came against the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Mumbai Indians finished at the bottom of the IPL 2022 Points Table with 8 points after losing 10 of their 14 matches. They lost their first eight matches in a row and were the first team to crash out of the tournament.
