2008 – Hyderabad Deccan Chargers
Hyderabad Deccan Chargers, who were led by V.V.S Laxman, managed to bag only 2 wins out of the 14 games that they played. This was the very first edition of IPL, and the team was packed by several foreign and domestic stars.
Despite having a balanced team, Hyderabad Deccan Chargers didn’t manage to meet the expectations and got the tag of being the most unsuccessful IPL team in 2008. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals played the game like they’ve been doing this for ages.
2009 – Kolkata Knight Riders
The most shocking result of IPL 2009 was considered the winning of the team that came last in the previous season. Hyderabad Deccan Chargers won the 2nd edition of IPL.

2010 – Kings XI Punjab/Punjab Kings

Out of their 14 games, Punjab was able to win only 4 games which kept them on the last position for most of the tournament.
2011 – Delhi Daredevils/Delhi Capitals
Delhi Capitals is one of the teams that have never won any title in the Indian Premier League. They have reached eliminators once or twice but never managed to make that one count.
In IPL 2011, Delhi Daredevils played, so far, the worst cricket in the campaign while managing only 4 wins in 14 games. This performance was bad enough that many fans and even experts said that Delhi had been the most unsuccessful IPL team in 2011.
2012 – Pune Warriors India
This was the first time when 9 teams were participating in the league. Pune Warriors India was the newest team to play in the league. Fans were hoping for some fireworks as it was packed with some of the best match-winners across the cricketing nations.
But what happened was otherwise, Pune Warriors India terribly failed to deliver and won just 4 matches out of their 16, and out of their last 9 league games, they didn’t manage to win a single one.
2013 – Delhi Daredevils/Delhi Capitals
Delhi Capitals made a unique record by becoming the only team by then to remain at the bottom of the points table after the completion of the tournament.
2013 was literally a year to forget for this franchise and its players, as they lost 13 out of the 16 games that they played. Even the players, coaches, and support staff would’ve felt that they’d played some very normal cricket and deserved to be called the worst team in IPL 2013.
2014 – Delhi Daredevils/Delhi Capitals
Looks like luck and destiny did forget to support the Delhi boys in 2014 as well. They were not over that humiliating season and then arrived in 2014, the year when Delhi Daredevils hit rock bottom.
In this edition, their performance was worse than usual, as Delhi managed to win only 2 out of the 14 games they played. A very unlikely and unwanted record to achieve, but yes, Delhi broke its record of being the most unsuccessful team in the IPL 2014 edition.
2015 – Punjab Kings
Punjab Kings is one of the teams who not only never lifted the trophy but ended up coming last in an edition more than once. In 2015, Punjab played 14 league games and only managed to win 3, ending up disappointing the fans and their owner once again.
Despite having some of the best players across the globe, Punjab never really looked to compete well against their opponents.
2016 – Punjab Kings
The IPL 2016 saw the unreal magic from Virat Kohli. The former Indian skipper, who was then also captaining RCB scored 4 centuries and is still the highest run-getter in any edition of IPL. But wait, things went from bad to worse for Punjab Kings.
After a disappointing campaign in IPL 2015, the Kings again hit rock bottom with just 1 more win as compared to the previous season. This back-to-back awful performance led the fans to say that Punjab Kings has been one of the worst teams in IPL.
2017 – Royal Challengers Bangalore

2018 – Delhi Capitals

2019 – Royal Challengers Bangalore

But at the same time, IPL breaks many hearts too. RCB yet again failed to deliver and managed to win only 5 games that they played in the entire campaign.

2020 – Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals won the inaugural edition of IPL in 2008 under the captaincy of Shane Warne. By 2020, the standards of this league were so high that despite winning 6 games out of 14, Rajasthan remained in the very last spot.

2022 – Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians is one of the most successful teams in IPL, with 5 titles under its name. But, 2022 witnessed the new low of MI Paltan.
They struggled throughout the entire season to create the right balance as they traded many of their match-winners to other teams. At last, they ended up winning 4 out of their 14 games.
2023 – Sunrisers Hyderabad
The latest edition of IPL saw a similar sort of result to 2021. Sunrisers Hyderabad once again continued to disappoint their fans and owners by managing to win only 4 out of their 14 games.
